Sydney has a passion for working with children and parents and has experience facilitating play therapy sessions. Areas that Sydney has experience assisting clients in include grief work, family conflict, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), difficult life transitions, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), depression, and anxiety. She has also had the privilege of being trained in the administration of various psychological assessments and believes that assessments can be an important tool to best help clients.

MY WHY

When I began my own therapy many years ago, I noticed that it ignited a passion inside of me to help others in a way that I had been helped. More specifically, I knew I was being called to help transform the lives of children and their families for the better. This profession has allowed for me to implement many of my core values such as being a constructing agent of change, being principled, and attunement.

MY STYLE

Sydney believes that each person is uniquely designed and therefore tailors counseling sessions to what works best for each individual. Ways in which she approaches therapy have included talking, using play techniques, sand tray therapy, and creative expressive art techniques. Sydney prefers a gentle approach to counseling and believes in the importance of creating a safe and nurturing space for clients to be heard. Specific frameworks and techniques that she uses in her work include child-centered play therapy (CCPT), person- centered, gestalt, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness approaches from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Sydney believes in the importance of considering all parts of a person and has experience addressing important life components such as social, spiritual, emotional, occupational, mental, and physical parts of self.
