KRYSTIN BAILEY, LCSWA

Krystin Bailey is an LCSWA at Birch Therapy working under the direct supervision of Laura Goulian (LCSW). Krystin received both her Undergraduate and Master’s Degree in Social Work from North Carolina State University. While in college Krystin provided psychotherapeutic services to clients of all ages while building trauma-informed clinical skills through the TRY-BHWET program. Krystin works with children, teens, college students, adults and parents and strives to create a safe, warm environment that affirms neurodiversity, encourages expression, and meets clients wherever they are on their journey.

My earliest childhood experiences grounded my life, and now my practice, in the importance of safety, support, and expression. As a young child processing my own early trauma and needs in therapy, I found comfort in music, art, storytelling, and play. Those approaches gave me a way to explore my world without shame or fear, and that experience stayed with me as I grew. I found my spark while advocating for unmet needs of children who didn’t yet have the words or power to advocate for themselves, and find that a relational approach that welcomes expression benefits clients of all ages. Many of my personal struggles and experiences in adolescence came to light when I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in adulthood. I was able to find self-compassion and grace for a younger self that didn't quite have all the tools she needed to navigate the world, and her own emotions comfortably. Now, as a therapist meeting clients where and as who they are, I take great pride in creating space grounded in authenticity, connection, expression, and empathy.

MY WHY

MY STYLE

My work is rooted in the importance of a safe and reliable therapeutic relationship that meets clients where they are. I believe that therapy works best when clients of all ages feel heard, trusted, and valued as individuals, which is why any modality I utilize is grounded in a person-centered approach. In sessions, I take an integrative and client-centered approach pulling from attachment work, IFS, and play therapy to help children feel safe, understood, and free to express themselves in ways that feel natural to them. With clients of all ages, I draw from modalities like ACT, DBT, and TF-CBT to build coping skills, process the past, find security in the present, and to forge safe pathways forward. My goal is to balance exploration and relation with structure, always meeting each child, teen, and parent where they are.
