KATHERYN BURNETT, LCMHC

Katheryn is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She received her undergraduate degree in education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University.

For the second paragraph: Katheryn’s graduate counseling experience includes working as a school-based  therapist and as an outpatient clinician working with children with disabilities. She is passionate about working with children and their families, and she aims to become a safe place and sense of support for children and their families as they navigate the variety of challenges and changes they face in life. Katheryn aims to help every client feel confident in who they are and validated in their experiences.

I want kids and teens to have a space where they feel respected and understood. As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety at a young age, I remember what it feels like to navigate the roller coaster that is childhood and adolescence while also feeling different from the “norm.” I want all of my clients and their families to have the tools they need, while feeling empowered in who they are.

MY WHY

MY STYLE

For the My Style paragraph: Katheryn utilizes a person-centered and child-centered approach to collaborate with her clients based on the belief that this will help them realize their full potential. Katheryn will also incorporate a variety of play therapy techniques when working with children. Katheryn will frequently employ solution-focused techniques as she recognizes that families need tangible steps to work through what has brought them to therapy. Katheryn strongly believes in an approach that supports the entire family system, and implements regular parent consultation and family work. When she is not working, Katheryn spends her free time exploring Raleigh, spending time with friends, and reading.
