SERVING CHILDREN AGES 3+ FOR PLAY AND INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, PARENT CONSULTATIONS, AND CHILD PARENT PSYCHOTHERAPY
DAKOTA BECKER, LCSW
Dakota has been providing therapy services to children, adolescents, and families in Raleigh, NC and the surrounding Triangle area since …. Dakota graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Philosophy, and went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. Because she believes that children and families deserve the highest quality clinical care, she pursued additional training and completed a 2 year post-masters Fellowship in pediatric mental health at the Yale Child Study Center, where she specialized in treating early childhood trauma. Dakota is a licensed clinical social worker and child and parent therapist. She enjoys working with caregivers and families; particularly during experiences of grief, trauma, and transition. Her journey here follows an enriching advanced clinical social work fellowship in pediatric mental health at the Yale Child Study Center, where I specialized in early childhood trauma.
Born and raised in New York City, she so glad to be back in North Carolina and put down personal and professional roots here. She deems it a privilege to be a part of her client’s lives and walk alongside children and their families as they grow and develop. It would be an honor to support your family as you explore therapy at Birch Therapy.
MY WHY
My Why…
MY STYLE
Dakota’s therapeutic approach is informed by her belief that all healing happens in the context of safe relationships and that parents deserve as much nurturing as their children do. Because of this, she pursued certification in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) – and have been fortunate to receive specialized training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, relational neuroscience and mentalization based interventions.
While she practices evidence-informed therapy, Dakota prioritizes centering the voices and experiences of the clients in treatment. Her approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. Together, she will co-create different treatment pathways that honor your family’s values and work towards providing relief and understanding.
Dakota is committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for her therapy clients and would love to have the opportunity to work with you!
